Swedish-born, L.A.-based artist Winona Oak has unveiled her new song and video, "Break My Broken Heart," exclusively Billboard today (Aug. 8).
The Andreas Öhman-directed video is absolutely stunning, with several red-accented shots that show the mysterious singer dripping blood from her mouth, sitting in a car, posing with a transparent sheet, and dancing in an aesthetically-pleasing bathroom.
"If I could, I wouldn't want you/ But it's getting late now and I can't stop," she sings smoothly over a bed of '80s-tinged synths. The chorus is explosive, bursting with a spine-tingling melody and sultry arpeggiation. "Break my broken heart/ Give me all you got," Oak croons.
“I wrote this little gem with two of my favorite people Oskar Sikow and Michelle Buzz," Oak tells Billboard. "It made me realize that you have to be brave to love someone with all your heart — and if you don’t take the risk you’ll end up with nothing to lose. I hope it finds its way into your hearts and can’t wait to follow its journey."
The song will be released Neon Gold Records/Atlantic Records everywhere tomorrow, and follows her previously released single, "He Don't Love Me."
