These female groups are a spectacular phenomenon because they combine individually prestigious genre leaders to capitalize on such a collaboration. And sometimes it lasts longer than a single: Aside from the pop domain, country stars Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt recorded their first collaborative Trio album together in 1987.
