The first glimpse of Zendaya as high school drug addict Rue in the upcoming HBO teen drama Euphoria dropped on Thursday (March 28) and from the looks of it the series — executive produced by Drake and his manager, Future the Prince — could be the network's next must-see project. The show, slated to premiere this year, also stars Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth), Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), Sydney Sweeney (Sharp Objects), Maude Apatow (Assassination Nation), Algee Smith (The Hate U Give), Alexa Demie (The OA), Barbie Ferreira (Divorce) and Hunter Schafer.
The trailer for the project adapted from an 2012 Israeli series of the same name opens with a quick cut of the show's title in large flashing letters over scenes of teens being teens: riding rides at an amusement park, night swimming, celebrating a football victory, drinking beers, staring pensively in a high school hallway and hooking up at parties as the spare, ominous electronic soundtrack picks up steam and switches to flashing images of Zendaya's sweaty, pained-looking face staring into the camera.
"This is the feeling I've been searching for my entire life," she says as her character wanders down a dark, empty street at night.
