Watch Lizzo Put a ‘Sister Act 2’ Spin on ‘Juice’ With 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards Performance

Lizzo channeled a young Lauryn Hill and one joyful '90s musical comedy for her performance of "Juice" at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

After Tiffany Haddish dubbed her the "best singer, rapper, singer/flautist in the game" in her enthusiastic intro, Lizzo took the stage wearing a choir robe as a few familiar chords rang out. They weren't from "Juice," but "Joyful, Joyful," which the talented teenage choir — one that included Hill before she rose to fame with the Fugees — sang in 1993's Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.

In the film's final scene, the choir ditches their traditional concert garb and comes out to perform wearing their own clothes after a stage manager urges them to do so. Lizzo's crew at the MTV Movie & TV Awards did the same — at the urging of a stage manager, too — and bounded out to join her as she belted out her jubilant single, just as the St. Francis Choir did behind Hill in the popular sequel.

Lizzo delivered the first of the broadcast's two musical performances, with Bazzi to follow.
