From songwriting inspirations to the monitor that made him say, "I've to do that track," the SHINee member tackles all the pieces.
With the discharge of his debut album Face, Key turns into the newest solo success from SHINee -- the third member of the beloved boy band to attain a high 10 entry on Billboard's World Albums chart and earning praise on year-end lists.
Amid busy promotions for the album, Key met with Billboard to eat a comfy winter meal ready with Chef Vittorio Cocchi at Seoul's fashionable Italian restaurant Section A. In between bites of handmade pasta and conventional Italian salad, watch the singer-songwriter give Stacy Nam the backstories and inspiration for singles "One of Those Nights" with Crush ("I believed, 'I've to do that track'" Key stated after his first hear of the demo), the Soyou-featuring "Forever Yours" ("I felt much less stress as a result of Soyou helped me"), plus which songs are particularly for his worldwide followers and align most together with his tastes as a music listener.
But maybe probably the most heartfelt second of the interview comes when Key shares the inspiration behind the LP's remaining monitor "This Life." After celebrating their 10-year anniversary earlier in 2018, Key and his bandmates have little left to show within the pop world, however Key says the monitor examines what his lasting legacy can be within the business.
"I believed, 'If I've to depart my job tomorrow, what can I depart behind?' Whether it's due to me or one other particular person, if I've to depart this [industry/occupation], what can I say?" he displays. "Instead of being depressed or irritated, I'd say, 'I'll depart behind a letter. It's within the drawer, so open it when you possibly can have probability ... I'm leaving it for you and saying farewell ... to indicate that I'll be capable of smile. I can depart a number of lovely presents behind and go. Of course I'm not going to go, however I simply think about it."
