Luis Fonsi, “Calypso”
Luis Fonsi returns with a refreshing track that includes Caribbean sounds mixed with his pop style and reggaeton beats. This time, the Puerto Rican singer joined forces with English star Stefflon Don, who participates in a Spanish track for the first time. The lyrics invite listeners to have a romantic “Caribbean” moment and follows “Despacito”’s style in terms what the lyric itself means: “I have what you are looking for, it warms up so much that it scares me, and you know what you like.” The music video was filmed in Puerto Rico. — SF
Pasabordo – “Qué TomoPa’ Olvidarla”
Newly signed to Universal after making slow, deliberate inroads independently, Colombian pop/urban duo Pasabordo’s new single is a slow, sultry heartbreak pop/reggaeton track in the vein “El Perdón.” It’s catchy, and we love the premise: “Who said love doesn’t hurt, who said love doesn’t kill? If it’s true you don’t die love, then why don’t you rescue me?” This one will stick. — LC
Gloria Trevi, “Que Me Duela”
Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi hints at her next album with the debut the sensual, vampire-themed single “Que Me Duela.” The track's rock leanings boost the pop song's appeal, which builds with every verse and double entendre such as: “It's 3 in the morning and the window is open.” The colorful video fuels the vampire story complete with simulated orgies and a night debauchery. — J.A.
Pitbull & Leona Lewis, “Amore”
This time, Pitbull has teamed up with British pop star Leona Lewis to release “Amore,” a single from the ficial soundtrack for the upcoming film Gotti. The song starts with a Spanish guitar sound and turns into a danceable track. Lewis' voice gives that suspense tone while Pitbull raps. — SF
Calibre 50, “Mi Sorpresa Fuiste Tú”
It's no accident Calibre 50's frontman Eden Muñoz wins awards for his songwriting. In the romantic ballad “Mi Sorpresa Fuiste Tú,” co-written by Rio Roma's Jose Luis Roma, the norteño band's track is anchored by the accordion, which Muñoz also masters along with a tender and memorable composition, which makes this group popular among some fans who swear they fall in love deeper each time with each song. — J.A.
DJ Africa, Justin Quiles & Jen Carlos Canela, “Hora Loca”
It's summertime and Justin Quiles, Jen Carlos and DJ Africa know it. “Hora Loca,” which means “crazy hour,” is about what you do when you go out to have fun with your friends on a typical summer weekend including sun, beach and course delicious drinks. — SF
