Vanessa Hudgens Gushes Over Austin Butler Landing Elvis Presley Role: ‘So Proud Of My Honeyyyyy’

Vanessa Hudgens is over the moon now that her boyfriend Austin Butler has officially secured the role of Elvis Presley in the upcoming Baz Luhrmann biopic. She took to Instagram on Monday (July 15) to personally express her overwhelming support.

"I AMMMM OVERRRR THE FUCKING MOOOOOOOOONNNNN. I CANT WAIT ------------ SO PROUD OF MY HONEYYYYY!!!" Hudgens wrote in the caption, which accompanied a screenshot of a press release announcing the news.

Butler was officially announced as Elvis after an intense search that also included Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort as potential options. Tom Hanks is also set to play Elvis' manager, Col. Tom Parker.

Warner Bros. described the project as having a story that will "delve into their complex dynamic spanning over 20 years, from Presley's rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and the loss of innocence in America."

The two stars have been dating since about 2011 and both have lengthy acting resumes, with Butler previously starring in Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Zoey 101, Switched at Birth and more. Hudgens has starred in High School Musical, Spring Breakers, The Princess Switch and more as well as some live musical productions like Grease: Live and Rent: Live.
