Underworldteams up with Iggy Popon a trippy visual for “Get Your Shirt,” the closing track for their collaborative EP Teatime Dub Encounters (set to be released July 27). The British electronic group shared the link to the music video last night (July 5) on Twitter, calling their seven-minute, psychedelic film “a lament to bad decisions, regrettable rip-fs, presidential flirts and unlovable jerks.”
The song is a call to pick up your remains from a one-night stand or relationship — whether that’s a literal clothing item or symbol for your physical and emotional capital — and “reclaim” a sense dignity and independence.
The trite lyrics bounce alongside the techno groove, providing a playful tune for a commonplace feeling getting screwed over by someone that made you fall in love with them. The video captures a man and two women dancing alongside each other for the majority the frames, each frame feeling as though it was dipped in water as a rippling effect is laminated over the characters. The women are defensive, and as he tries to separate from them (“I want my shirt back!”), while the man is interconnected with their bodies in a warped dance.
