Odd Future ringleader Tyler, the Creator reworked the lyrics “Sometimes” in a live set, swapping the gender-neutral “you” for masculine pronouns.

At a headlining performance at Hellow Festival in Monterey, Mexico, this past Saturday, Tyler treated the audience to an alternate, queer-specific version the Flower Boy highlight. “Curls on his head look like waves/ I wanna surf in ‘em,” he rapped, making explicit that the subject in the song was, indeed, another man.

Despite blowback surrounding his use homophobic slurs early in his career, the “Who Dat Boy” rapper has alluded to his sexuality repeatedly in his music. He’s rapped about “kissing white boys since 2004” on the Flower Boy track "I Ain’t Got Time!” and, more recently, shouted out Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet on the one-f “OKRA.”
