There’ll be a Special Feeling on the first day of autumn 2019, with K-pop girl group TWICE dropping their new album on Sept. 23.
The nine-member group’s eighth Korean EP, what is known as a mini album in the South Korean music industry, Special Feeling arrives after April’s Fancy You, fronted by the single “Fancy.” That EP peaked at No. 4 on the World Albums chart on the chart dated May 4.
The Special Feeling album was announced over the weekend with the arrival Sunday (Sept. 8) of an elegant, brief teaser video featuring member Nayeon, which racked up over 2 million views on Youtube within 24 hours. It was followed up today (Sept. 9) by a bold clip of Jeongyeon.
TWICE recently completed the North American leg of their 2019 Twicelights world tour, and will be performing several shows in Japan in coming months. They are set to release a webseries on YouTube in 2020 that will focus on the American leg of the tour.
The new EP will be the first from the nonet since member Mina has taken a break from TWICE’s activities due to her mental health struggles, as the 22-year-old was recently diagnosed with anxiety. According to TWICE’s management company, JYP Entertainment, Mina’s participation in TWICE moving forward will depend on her health condition.
"On the premise with this variable situation, Mina herself, members and [the] company are deciding together through consultation about Mina's participation of any schedule," JYP told Billboard in a translation of the company's Korean statement. "Moreover, as Mina's schedule participation must be based on objective health situation, we request for fans' kind consideration in regards to her selective participation is inevitable."
The company reportedly neither confirmed nor denied reports that she was participating in the shoot for the music video of Special Feeling’s single.
Billboard has reached out to JYP Entertainment to confirm whether or not Mina will appear on Special Feeling.
