Live audio service TuneIn has announced its 2019 streaming lineup for its partner North American festivals.
After successfully streaming Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta earlier this year, TuneIn has announced plans to host official streaming stations for Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island and Life is Beautiful in Las Vegas. The human-hosted stations are launched months in advance to build buzz for the events and play music from artists who have performed in previous years, as well as artists on the current lineup, coupled with on-the-ground reporting and analysis during the festival.
For Newport Folk, July 26-28, TuneIn will broadcast sets by Jeff Tweedy, Portugal. The Man, Dawes, Phosphorescent, Jade Bird, Lake Street Dive, Rayland Baxter, Lukas Nelson and more.
TuneIn's head of branded content Charles Raggio said the agreement "takes the entire (Newport Folk) experience to a whole new level,” while Jay Sweet, executive producer for Newport Festivals Foundation added "it's no easy task to capture the vibe and energy of Newport Folk and broadcast it to our fans outside the festival grounds. We're grateful to have a partner who gets 'it.'"
Now in its fifth season, the TuneIn app has more than 75 million monthly users and has collaborated with festivals including Stagecoach, Firefly, Hangout, Outside Lands, Bumbershoot, The Meadows and Lovebox UK. TuneIn can be accessed on smart phones, through smart speakers such as SONOS and Bose SoundTouch, and voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and coming this Fall, Apple’s Siri-enabled devices. Off platform distribution will be handled by Consequence of Sound Media.
