Travis Barker Remembers DJ AM On 10-Year Anniversary Of Death: ‘Lost My Brother’

77

Travis Barker, like many famous musicians, took to social media to remember his friend DJ AM, calling the late artist his "brother." The two worked together as a duo called TRV$DJAM, and were also the sole survivors of a 2008 plane crash.

DJ AM died of a drug overdose in 2009. He first came to fame as a member of the band Crazytown but rose to prominence as an open-format DJ on the front lines of the mid-aught electronic revolution. As a weekly resident of the Las Vegas strip (long before it was a popular destination for the game's biggest names), his genreless approach to blending hip-hop, dance, pop and rock helped fuel the engine that would explode into the EDM movement.

Unfortuntely, DJ AM passed away before he saw the far reaches of his influence. He was remembered by his former girlfriend Mandy Moore and other stars in the music world.
