Tory Lanez Attorneys Believe Someone Is Leaking Confidential Info Involving Megan Thee Stallion Case

Los Angeles, CA – Megan The Stallion sat down for an interview with CBS Mornings’ Gayle King in April and went into great detail about the summer night she says Tory Lanez shot her. The incident took place in July 2020 shortly after Megan and Lanez had left a party in the Hollywood Hills. The Canadian rapper ended up in jail, while Megan was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

After Megan identified Lanez as the shooter, he was ultimately charged with felony assault, although he maintains his innocence. The trial is expected to take place on September 14 but ahead of those proceedings, Lanez and his attorneys were in court on Thursday (June 9) where prosecutors brought up some concerns.

As explained by Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon, “It was supposed to be simple scheduling hearing, but prosecutor raised issue of more alleged ‘leaks’ of discovery, said she’s ‘trying to ascertain source.’ Tory’s lawyer was adamant any leaks are not coming from her ‘watermarked’ discovery, said Tory declined discovery to be safe.”

For those unfamiliar, when attorneys are preparing for trial, both sides engage in discovery, the formal process of exchanging information between the parties about the witnesses and evidence they’ll present at trial. Discovery enables the parties to know before the trial begins what evidence may be presented.

Evidently, Megan’s attorneys believe someone is leaking information that isn’t supposed to be shared ahead of trial. Meanwhile, Lanez’s attorney Shawn Holley said Megan Thee Stallion took things to another level by doing the television interview with Gayle King.

“Tory’s lawyer, Shawn Holly, said Megan, ‘upped the ante’ by speaking to Gayle King on CBS. She says Tory rebuffed calls from CBS producers, asking for a rebuttal interview. Tory ordered back July 28. Trial date Sept. 14.”

Tory Lanez declining an interview with CBS makes sense, though. Lanez has a restraining order preventing him from contacting Megan. But in July 2021, he attempted to get permission from Los Angeles County Court to speak on the case.

In court documents obtained by TMZ, he claimed it was unfair Megan is allowed to tweet on the matter whenever she wants, while he must remain quiet. Lanez says there’s “evidence of gunshot residue implicating others” but because of the protective order, he’s prohibited from disclosing any of it. He was also worried his silence will make it look like he agrees with her.

Lanez, however, did address the alleged shooting in his September 2020 album DAYSTAR. The 17-track project arrived via SoundCloud and was solely dedicated to telling his side of the story.

As he rapped on album opener “Money Over Fallouts,” “Can’t cry now, I’m gonna laugh later/Girl you had the nerve to write that statement on that affidavit, knowing I don’t do it/But I’m coming at my truest, tryin’ to keep this shit 200 with ya, shorty/I can’t prove it but them people in yo’ ear/They the true ones that I feel that really got you thinking Tory Lanez would do you in for real.

“Don’t forget you was my bitch, I held it down and kept it real/I would never paint no fake picture of you just for some mills/And I thought that you were solid too, but look at how you doing me/Look at you doing me, people tryin’ to ruin me.”

With the trial just three months away, a resolution to this ongoing case is on the horizon. Until then, check out the album below.
