It won’t be fair not to show love to the cats that work behind the boards. Cats whose soundscapes help push hip-hop to loft heights. So in the same vein, this weekly list sheds light on budding and even established producers who continue to push the envelope for the culture. So sit back relax and get familiar with these producers.

 Pablo Zuazo – Jazzual Suspect.

Brazilian-born jazz pianist, singer and songwriter Pablo Zuazo kicks of this weekend’s list with an eclectic blend of jazz, bossa nova and more on his new release titled “Jazzual Suspect”. Like the title says, the listener will be surely drawn into a whole new zone of suspense laced with an uncertain calm. The overall mellow vibe is rife with lush keys and layered cinematic textures that keeps changing as it progresses.


​Zuazo’s music is influenced by Tom Jobim, Dorival Caymmi, Lúcio Alves, Dick Farney, Simonal, Horace Silver, Michel Petrucciani, Oscar Peterson, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra. Us3, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys and Medeski, Martin & Wood are important influencers of his music too.

 13thousand. – “mad”

The London-based producer who goes by the moniker  13thousand never disappoints and surely delivers another gem titled “Mad”. A soul-filled track that is built over smooth emotional vocals and cinematic strings laced with solid boom-bap style drums. Hit the play button and get familiar.

 

Bmbu – “what do I know?”

 

John Alsace (aka Bmbu), is a Music Producer based out of Philadelphia, PA. and has been on our list a couple of times. On his new effort titled “What Do I Know?”, he keeps it pretty laid back with solemn strings and drums that give a nostalgia-inducing emotion):

Michum – “duts”

Michum gets into his bag on his new release titled “Duts”. He blends lush, mellow keys and an obscure vocal sample that peeps in and out of the layered textures. It’s pretty solid from start to finish.

“Duts” is taken from Michum’s upcoming beat tape knives. Cassette and digital versions dropping on September 27th Lamplighter (www.lamplighter.de)

 

Donkychip – “Where U Is”

Donkychip makes his debut on our top 10 instrumental list with his multi-genre style of production. His new release “Where U Is” is a nice blend of hip-hop and hardcore dance. Its very dynamic and the energy never gets stale or boring.

 

 

Dopetruementals – “Birds”

German Production duo Dopetruementals return with some good old ear-grabbing beat as they drop a new single titled “Birds”. The track has a nice blend of classic boom-bap styled drums and a multi-layered texture that keeps the ears glued from start to finish.
The duo is made up of “LeXXus” (Dennis G. ) and “Bela” (Manuel A.)

 

Kaino – “Euphoria”

Helsinki, Finland based producer who goes by the moniker Kaino (Niko Ryhänen) raises the ante with his new release titled “Euphoria”. Backed by majestic horns that herald something new and thick drums, Kaino takes us into a whole new realm on this beat.
“Euphoria” is the opening track of Kaino’s  Elephant Echoes EP.

JBXDR – “Pocketcall”

Drummer and producer Jörn Bielfeldt (aka JBXDR) makes a splash on our list with his new effort titled “Pocketcall”. The track blends solid live drumming with eclectic textures that somewhat exude a soothing effect on the soul. “Pocketcall” is taken from his upcoming release “Wave Talk”
