There's a Campaign to Reunite Nirvana With Nickelback's Chad Kroeger on Vocals

Take the most beloved rock band the past quarter-century and mix it with the lead singer for one the most successful and also most ridiculed bands on earth. What do you get? For some people, the greatest supergroup in rock history. Believe it or don't, someone has started a Facebook campaign aimed at getting the surviving members Nirvana to reunite in January with Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger on the mic.

Before we get any further, let's just acknowledge that this will never, ever happen. That said, the FB bid to hold the event at the Nirvana Hair & Beauty Bar (coincidence, probably not?) in Manchester, England, on January 1 has already gotten pledges from more than 1,000 people and interest from nearly 3,000 who would love to see Nirvana's Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear set up behind Canadian rocker Kroeger.

Spokespeople for Nickelback, Nirvana and the Beauty Bar could not be reached for comment at press time. As you might imagine, many the comments point out that there is no Nirvana without late singer Kurt Cobain, that Grohl is not a fan Nickelback and that, well, as long as we're talking super longshots, Wes Scantlin from Puddle Mudd might be a way better choice. One the subtle, all-caps responses read simply, "PLEASE, GOD, DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN. EVER!!"

The whole thing seems like the latest prank from the host, who goes by "Be Reet," whose other spo events include "Looking at this photo Christian Bale," "Ian Brown to Release Album Opera Classics and "Tea & Biscuits with Lionel Rich-Tea and Limp Bizkit."
