More XO.

Just six months after the release of After Hours, The Weeknd is readying his next move. In an interview for the cover of Rolling Stone, Abel revealed that he may have another album ready to drop once the pandemic dies down.

“I might have another album ready to go by the time this quarantine is over,” he tells the magazine.

He has spent the last four months “cooped up” at his L.A. condo producing new songs out of a makeshift studio in between binging on Korean horror films.

Fans can expect a reinvention from the Canadian singer, who refuses to put himself in a box. “I’m guilty of wanting to outdo my last album,” he says. “But it’s never like, ‘I’ve got to do the same type of song.’ I’m so happy I’m not like that. My palette is so wide.”

According to Rolling Stone, the new music is a “whole different world from After Hours.” “I’m trying to find a perfect balance with the film and the music, and so far it’s going really well,” he adds. “I think I might have cracked the code.”

The self-proclaimed “workaholic” has also been writing a secretive screenplay. “I can’t talk about it too much yet,” he teases. “I really want it to be official.”

After Hours debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March and spawned hits including “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights,” which is currently No. 5 on the Hot 100.
