Dancing with props can always be risky, but hip-hop dance crew The Lab didn't let that stop them from delivering an "elated" and "disruptive" performance during the Division Final episode World Dance on Wednesday (Sept. 5).
The Lab didn't just use a prop or two, but created an entire classroom featuring desks, chairs, and backpacks, all which were meticulously used in their hard-hitting choreography, set to N.E.R.D.'s hit single "Lemon," featuring Rihanna.
The routine started out with the crew sleeping on their desks and wearing matching uniforms and backpacks before jolting awake to the sound a school bell. The dancers then immediately threw away their papers and launched right into the routine, featuring tight knit choreography, impressive jumps, and jaw dropping flips. Judge Ne-Yo even rushed to the stage to celebrate with the Junior Team Division crew, while fellow judge Jennifer Lopez said, "They are not elated enough."
“It was so smart, so competitive, so creative,” judge and dancer Derek Hough added, still on his feet. “Everything about that was just out this world.” Lopez thought they were “disruptive” in the best way, not to mention “mind-blowing… People who have been doing this 20 and 30 years don’t have what you have.” Guest judge and ballerina Misty Copeland thought they were on “another level” compared to when she saw them in season one.
