‘The Hills’ Remixes ‘Unwritten’ Theme Song With Natasha Bedingfield & Linda Perry for New Season: Hear a Preview

The full song debuts Monday night at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, before the June 24 debut of “The Hills: New Beginnings.”

The Hills has updated its famous theme song for the upcoming New Beginnings reboot, but longtime fans needn't worry: It will still be "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. It's simply a new version of the song, reworked with the help of superproducer Linda Perry.

In a behind-the-scenes preview released Monday (June 17), Bedingfield explained that it's a remix of "Unwritten," except she also re-recorded all of the vocals. "Doing a remix has been really fun. A lot of times with remixes, people take the original vocals and then just change the beats and chords around it — I wanted to re-sing it. I wanted to take where I'm at now and kind of give it a new spin."

Clips of Perry producing in the studio are also shown. "What I love about it, it's like I believe every word," Perry says in the studio.

The world premiere of The Hills: New Beginnings' full theme song will take place during the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, airing Monday night at 9 p.m. ET.

In 2006, "Unwritten" peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

"'Unwritten' is on my very first record. I wrote the song and there was this feeling of, ‘Wow, I couldn't say it any better," Bedingfield shared, explaining that it got even bigger when MTV picked it up for the show.
