The Darcys are all about facing forward on their buoyant new track "Better Days," premiering exclusively on Billboard today (June 6).
"I've seen better days and I know they're coming/ I've seen better days, just gotta trust me," singer Jason Couse implores. A gritty bass buzzes, laying the ground for synths to soar and Couse's Imagine Dragons-esque vocals to take the lead. It's an anthemic tune that's sure to bring any person out of a funk; in short, it's a downright fantastic summer banger.
"Better Days" addresses "redemption and past failure," as drummer Wes Marskell tells Billboard, but is also about trusting that during the darkest moments, a positive outcome is just around the corner. "We want everyone to know that we’ve been there, that we all face moments of sadness, fear, regret and frustration, but these experiences allow us grow," Couse tells Billboard. "We hope this song encourages people to keep their heads up, to stay optimistic and to take care of themselves."
The Toronto duo are currently putting the finishing touches on their follow-up to 2016's Centerfold, which is expected to arrive later this year.
