Friends and frequent collaborators Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran both racked up 2018 American Music Awards nominations on Wednesday (Sept. 12), and they're even nominated against each other in a few categories — but there's no bad blood here.
Swift posted an Instagram video Wednesday the pair hiking and cheekily chatting about the noms. "Hey, Taylor, the AMA nominations have just come out," Sheeran says in the video. "It's me, you and Drake."
"You're gonna win," they both say to each other, before admitting: "Drake's gonna win."
Sheeran, Swift and Drake are all nominated for artist the year, along with Imagine Dragons and Post Malone, and Sheeran's ÷ (Divide), Swift's Reputation and Drake's Scorpion are also nominated for the favorite album — pop/rock award. "Safe to say whoever wins the AMA for fav pop/rock album will be an artist who writes songs about love and heartbreak — YOU get to decide who it’ll be," Swift captioned her Instagram video.
In addition to artist the year, Swift is nominated for tour the year, favorite female artist — pop/rock and favorite album — pop/rock for reputation, while Sheeran is nominated in four other categories. Drake leads with nominations in eight categories.
Voting in 26 AMA categories is now open, with three remaining categories (new artist the year, collaboration the year, and favorite social artist) opening later this month on TheAMAs.com.
Winners will be announced live during the 2018 American Music Awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 9, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
