Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week, Billboard taps chart-topping artists and tastemakers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. We give the artists free rein to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.
The Aces know what it means to be badass. The all-female indie-pop group plays their own instruments, shredding on electric guitars and bringing infectious energy to any stage. Though they've only released one album, 2018's When My Heart Felt Volcanic, the Utah-born quartet — guitarist Katie Henderson, bassist McKenna Petty, lead vocalist/guitarist Cristal Ramirez and drummer (and Cristal's sister) Alisa Ramirez — are well on their way to becoming bonafide rock stars. So when The Aces ladies put together their Takeover Tuesday playlist, they decided to make it about the badasses around them.
"This is a playlist curated by moguls for moguls," the girls tell Billboard in a statement. "We wanted to pick a bunch of songs that all of us personally turn on before we go out, when we are making coffee in the morning, or when we just wanna feel good and inspired to take over the world!”
Starting with Ariana Grande's most recent release, her Victoria Monet collaboration "Monopoly," the 22-song playlist is filled with hits that are sure to help you channel your fierce side whether it's Jennifer Lopez's 2002 smash "Jenny From the Block" or Post Malone's latest hit "Wow." The Aces may be rockers themselves, but they clearly love blasting some hip-hop: Kendrick Lamar's "DNA," Drake's "8 Out of 10" and J. Cole's "KOD" also made the list.
Of course, The Aces' mogul playlist wouldn't be complete without a couple of their own jams. The girls shouted out two cuts from When My Heart Felt Volcanic, the flirty "Strong Enough" and the punchy "Last One."
Check out the full playlist below, and in the wise words of The Aces themselves, "Turn on this playlist when you need an extra push or you’re just feeling yourself."
