Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week Billboard taps chart-topping artists and taste-makers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. We give the artists free reign to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.
Six-piece Australian band Sheppard just released their second studio album, Watching The Sky, in June, and have spent the summer on the road playing songs from their current and past LPs. Though they've mainly played for audiences in their home continent, the group will be performing at Billboard's Hot 100 Fest later this month — but no matter where Sheppard is performing, they're ready to get the party started.
For their Takeover Tuesday turn, Sheppard shares with us their "Getting the Party Started" playlist, featuring a wide variety uptempo pop, hip-hop and electronic songs. From "way too easy to dance to" Azealia Banks tracks, to "one their favorites" Coldplay, Sheppard has an unconventional but extremely catchy remix-heavy playlist to get each other (and fans) amped up.
"Who doesn't love a little bit Kygo to pump up the party?" the band — who issued their own sing-along anthem "Geronimo" in 2014 — suggests, while also including some older jams like MGMT's "Electric Feel" that are "still fun to listen to." The playlist will take you on a spin various Thomas Jack, Freedom and Seeb remixes to give a more party-ready feel to some their favorite tunes.
As Sheppard pleases crowds across Australia and prepares to stop by the States later this month, take a listen to their playlist and get your own party started.
*Note: PNAU's "Baby" was another pick for the playlist, but wasn't on Spotify. Listen to the track here.
