T-Pain had an awkward interaction with a pedestrian who mistook him for Lil Wayne, but the “Buy U a Drank” crooner kept his cool and offered a poignant response.

“Look, I had to go to the gas station this morning for some gas and some condoms or something I can’t remember,” T-Pain said. “I just went in there and dude came in there and was like, ‘Yo is that your car?’ — and I’m driving the Cullinan, I’m driving the Rolls Truck — and I was like, ‘Yes sir’ and he’s like, ‘That’s a nice car’ then he left out the store. I came out the store he sitting in his truck and he said, ‘Excuse me sir, are you Lil Wayne?’ I said, ‘No sir, I’m not Lil Wayne’.

“He said, ‘Well you gotta be a rapper.’ I said, ‘I don’t have to be. There’s plenty of people that got that truck that aren’t rappers, I’m not a rapper though,’ and he was like, ‘Well I know you a rapper, man. I just don’t know which one. I’m gonna find out.’ I’m like ‘Alright, that’s fucked up.’

He added, “So anyways, go check out my new rap song ‘That’s Just Tips’ that’s available on streaming everywhere right now. so just go check that out so please so people won’t call me Lil Wayne no more. Make me famous again.”

T-Pain’s encounter comes as the Tallahassee man, who’s very much a rapper, dropped his new single “That’s Just Tips” on Friday (April 30) and announced a new tour whose title pulls from his song “Can’t Believe It,” which features Lil Wayne. While most cities will offer the “Ringleader Man” a warm welcome, one city wasn’t feeling the love and got T-Pain’s wrath as a result of low ticket sales.

“On the tour, we do a weekly tour update kind of thing, you know, and we send out this little spreadsheet of the percentages of tickets we’ve sold in each city,” he said. “I got to tell you, man, there’s only one question, ‘What the fuck, Dallas?’”

He continued, “I wore cowboy hats many times,” he continued. “I used to raise horses! I feel like I’m part of the city! I’ve worn a cowboy hat or two — regular cowboys and Dallas Cowboys.”
