Skrillex Drops Off Surprise Two-Song ‘Show Tracks’ EP: Listen

Skrillex is one of the most beloved DJs in the game, and while that's due in part to his popular productions, it's also owed to the wild sounds fans didn't expect to hear. Today (July 19), he surprised his flock with a two-track EP of unreleased set pieces he calls Show Tracks, because, why not?

The first is a track co-produced by Alvin Risk called "Fuji Opener," possibly named for its use as his Fuji Rock set opener some years ago. "Time to ignite," the vocal says, or at least, that's what the baby voice sounds like. It's all cute as it lures you in, then it hits you with the body slammin' moombah vibes, half-time breaks and face-stompin' bass wonks. It's a massive patchwork of style and sound with a hint of mystery in its airy melodies.

"Mumbai Power" featuring Beam follows. It's a slower-tempo track with a low-key mood, but there's nothing backseat about these sonics. Skrillex's mastery of sound design is on full display as your ears explore interstellar synth swings, dynamic drum patterns and a fresh mix of ethereal melodies and ear-teasing textures.

The man packed a lot of punch in a two-song package. It's brutal, beautiful and just plain fun to listen to:
