In the latest wrinkle in the unfolding battle between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun, Sia spoke out strongly in favor of Braun on Tuesday morning (July 2).
In a tweet, Sia wrote, “You’re a good man @scooterbraun I hope this passes quickly. I love you keep going.”
The statement from Sia, who is not managed by Braun, comes as lines are being drawn in the wake of this weekend’s news that Braun had acquired Swift's former label, Big Label Machine Group, in a $300 million deal by his Ithaca Holdings arm backed by the massive global investment firm the Carlyle Group. The singer referred to the purchase — which includes the rights to her first six albums — as her “worst case scenario,” and the latest in what she termed Braun’s “incessant, manipulative bullying” of hers over the years and the “controlling of a woman who didn’t want to be associated” with him.
Braun’s wife Yael and new client Demi Lovato, as well as flagship talent Justin Bieber, have come to Braun’s defense, while Big Machine founder/CEO Scott Borchetta has refuted his former charge’s claims that she was blindsided by the sale. On the other hand, Halsey, Todrick Hall and frequent Swift video director Joseph Kahn have backed Swift.
