See How Pete Wentz Reacted to Taylor Swift Calling Him One Of Her ‘Favorite Lyricists’

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Beats 1, Taylor Swift explained how her lyrics — like say, the begging-to-be-an-Instagram-caption couplets that make up the "Blank Space" verses — were heavily influenced by Pete Wentz's extravagant pen game.

"If I had to pick a favorite lyricist, it would be a tie between [Wentz] and Lana Del Rey," Swift said.

The news got back to the Fall Out Boy bassist and naturally, he's all about it. Wentz retweeted Swift's video yesterday, along with three arrow-heart emojis.

Some background: Lowe, perhaps inspired by Swift gushing about FOB in a recent interview, asked her if she was an emo kid. She responded by talking about a recent dinner party she attended where she was seated next to Wentz and Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie and got to ask them all about their 2000s scenester escapades.

Fall Out Boy and Panic! weren't the only bands from the 2000s emo-punk explosion that shaped Swift in her formative years. In Billboard's recent Jimmy Eat World interview, Jim Adkins spoke about Swift including them in a recent Spotify playlist of her favorite love songs and what it feels like to have influenced one of today's biggest pop stars.
