Grammy-winning recording artist pays tribute to his father and all parents with the song “Angel En La Tierra,” which highlights a special bond and the struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
After losing his father to Alzheimer's disease in January, salsa singer Victor Manuelle has written one the most touching ballads his career in tribute to the man who raised him and was his ultimate hero.
In a Billboard premiere, the salsa star shares the touching new video and acoustic ballad “Ángel En La Tierra,” which he dedicates to his father Victor Manuel Ruiz, who died Jan. 3 at age 68.
Directed by Héctor Fournier, the black-and-white animated music video portrays special moments between a father and son. At the time the patriarch's death, his son took to social media.
“Today my hero finished his mission with us on earth,” Manuelle wrote on his Facebook page. “He goes to heaven leaving us a great life lesson as father, friend and great human being …] To my friends in the press, I have to thank you for all your concern during the process my father’s Alzheimer’s and your solidarity for all the projects to raise awareness about this illness.”
Manuelle has honored his father in many ways, including by helping to raise funds and awareness for the De Frente Al Alzheimer organization during a “Walk for Your Hero” event. The single, available on all digital music platforms through Sony Music Latin as midnight, is also dedicated to all parents.
