Plus, Marshmello & Anne-Marie return to the top on Dance/Mix Show Airplay.
Sabrina Carpenter, teaming with Jonas Blue, ascends 2-1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart (dated July 14) with “Alien.” The pop/dance original was remixed by M-22, Dark Heart and Tom Stephan, among others.
While it's Carpenter’s first time atop a Billboard dance chart, the collaboration marks Blue’s third Dance Club Songs leader. His previous two both came in 2016, with “Fast Car,” featuring Dakota, cruising to the summit in April and “Perfect Strangers,” featuring JP Cooper, scoring the No. 1 spot that November. Blue has two additional top 10s among his seven chart hits: “Mama,” featuring William Singe (No. 9, August 2017), and “Hearts Ain’t Gonna Lie,” with Arlissa (No. 8, June 2018).
Marshmello and Anne-Marie return to No. 1 for a third total frame on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with “Friends” (2-1). Since it logged its second week at the summit on May 26, the song has sat at No. 2 for six straight weeks, each behind Calvin Harris’ and Dua Lipa’s “One Kiss.” “Friends” first hit No. 1 on April 21 and has not budged from the top two since.
Blair St. Clair (aka Andrew Bryson) barges in at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Album Sales with Call My Life (EP). The debut set from the RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant (season 10) sold 1,000 copies in the week ending July 5, according to Nielsen Music.
The act’s first Billboard No. 1, Call concurrently debuts at No. 11 on Heatseekers Albums and at No. 34 on Independent Albums. Two months ago, on May 12, St. Clair's track “Now or Never” notched a No. 18 entry on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales.
