Fifteen queens entered the workroom of RuPaul’s Drag Race this season to compete for the crown. But which one will walk away victorious? Each week, Billboard will rank each of the remaining queens based on their performances on the show to determine who has the best shot at the crown. Follow Billboard Pride on Twitter and Facebook for updated leaderboards each week.
Last week, the queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race dusted off their best impersonations for a nautical-themed fan-favorite challenge, "Snatch Game at Sea." One queen became a captain in her own right; Silky Nutmeg Ganache slayed her impression of internet star Ts Madison, taking home her second challenge win thus far in the competition.
But two queens were nearly thrown overboard when frontrunners Brooke Lynn Hytes and Yvie Oddly found themselves in the bottom. But, after one of the most jaw-dropping lip syncs in Drag Race herstory, both queens were granted another week on the show.
On Thursday, the queens are getting on their baddest behavior as they act in a Cops parody show, Los Angeles Drag Patrol.
8. Vanessa Vanjie Mateo (last week: 8)
Sadly, Miss Vanjie gained no new ground this week. Her performance as Danielle Bregoli (aka Bhad Bhabie) basically just turned into a somewhat heightened version of Vanjie, and her runway, while pretty, was yet another swimsuit. The edit isn’t looking good for Vanjie — unless she has a major redemption arc coming up, she could be in serious trouble next week.
7. Plastique Tiara (last week: 2)
There is no doubt that Plastique Tiara’s runway look was very good, albeit a bit similar to Brooke Lynn’s Pisces look from earlier in the season. But her Snatch Game as Lovely Mimi from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta felt like a lot more of what we’ve already seen from Plastique — yes, she got in a few good laughs, but her character felt muddled and very similar to her "Why It Gotta Be Black, Panther" character. We’re glad to see that Ms. Tiara is still with us, but we need to see her give us more if she wants to remain on the show.
6. Yvie Oddly (last week: 3)
How do we rank the queens of the bottom two this week? Yes, Yvie’s performance in the Snatch Game was god-awful (there was almost nothing accurate about her Whoopi Goldberg impression), but her lip sync against Brooke Lynn was easily one of the best not just of the season, but in the show’s history. This week proved that anyone could go home at any time … unless you can pull out a show-stopping performance like this one.
5. Brooke Lynn Hytes (last week: 1)
There is one reason that Brooke Lynn Hytes ranks ahead of Ms. Oddly this week: her runway reveal. Truly, that wig-and-outfit quick change very well could have saved her from the bottom, had it not been for her truly heinous Celine Dion impression. The outfit, and that truly stunning lip sync, kept Brooke Lynn around, and we don’t see her going home any time soon.
4. A’Keria C. Davenport (last week: 7)
In terms of choosing great characters for Snatch Game, A’Keria struck gold. Tiffany Haddish is an excellent celebrity to impersonate, and Ms. Davenport did a serviceable job in her performance. Her runway look was even better, with a zebra-print sequin dress complete with a tail and everything. A’Keria did her job this week, and we’re excited to see her give us even more in the weeks to come.
3. Nina West (last week: 6)
Playing two characters in Snatch Game is a tricky decision — it worked very well for Bob the Drag Queen, but it requires a deep love and knowledge of both characters. Thankfully, Nina pulled it off, delivering two excellent performances as Harvey Fierstien and Jo Ann Worley, each making Ru laugh harder than the one before. This challenge saw Nina at her best, and we can’t wait to see what else she has in store for this competition.
2. Shuga Cain (last week: 5)
We’re developing a sweet tooth thanks to Shuga Cain. The queen’s impression of Charo was probably the most accurate of the week — she looked and sounded nearly identical to the Latin superstar, and served up a lot of laughs during Snatch Game. What puts her over the top? Her incredible runway look was one of the best the show has ever seen. Shuga absolutely nailed it this week, and cemented her place as one of the best Snatch Game contestants yet.
1. Silky Nutmeg Ganache (last week: 4)
We don’t need an attitude check — Silky is clearly on top of the world. Doctor Ganache destroyed the competition with her on-point impersonation as Ts Madison, proving Yvie wrong once and for all about her talent. This is Silky’s second win in the competition, giving her a huge boost and a leg up on many of the other queens in the competition. We can see Big and Silky headed for the finale, and at this point, we’re rooting for her.
