‘Runaway,’ ‘Otro Trago,’ ‘Soltera’ & More Top Latin Songs of Summer 2019 (So Far)

What would summer be without songs that fill us with joy and unforgettable memories? For that reason, the Billboard Latin editors have compiled a list of songs to listen to while we enjoy the season.

From Juan Luis Guerra's “Kitipun” to “Que Bomba” by Play-N-Skillz featuring Luis Coronel, listen to the top Latin songs of summer 2019, in no particular order.

"Kitipun" – Juan Luis Guerra

Juan Luis Guerra boasts another belter with “Kitipun,” one of the most-liked songs of the summer and lead single of Literal. A tune that displays Guerra’s lyrical ability and continued willingness to experiment, “Kitipun” opens with rock-like synth beats tunefully harmonizing with his traditional bachata for a more expansive sound, but without deserting his essence, which transitions into an unanticipated rap verse. — PAMELA BUSTIOS

“Runaway” – Sebastian Yatra, Daddy Yankee, Jonas Brothers & Natti Natasha

Sebastian Yatra officially kicked off the first day of summer with “Runaway” alongside Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha and the Jonas Brothers, who — on their first-ever Latin collaboration — don’t shy away from flaunting their Spanish-singing skills. The vibrant track perfectly fuses the best of pop-rock, Latin pop and Caribbean urban melodies, easily becoming a summer favorite. “Runaway” peaked at No. 12 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated July 6 and peaked at No. 28 on Latin Airplay chart dated July 20. — JESSICA ROIZ

"Contando Lunares" – Don Patricio

Rapper Don Patricio's "Contando Lunares" went to No. 1 in Spain and took off on YouTube, where the song's animated beach-themed video has been seen some 63 million times. With an ultra-catchy tumbao that echoes the Santana/Maná hit "Corazón Espinado," and lyrics that toast the seduction of hot, nothing-to-do days, "Lunares" has proved addictive for all ages. Don Patricio (Patricio Martin), who's from the Canary Islands, teamed up with Cruz Cafuné, a Venezuelan native who is also part of the young Canarian hip-hop scene. — JUDY CANTOR-NAVAS

"Inmortal" – Aventura

Aventura crowned the Latin Airplay chart after nine years when the group’s reunion single “Inmortal,” the first single from Romeo Santos' collaborative album Utopía, landed at No. 1 in May. Charged with heart-wrenching lyrics, the tune is flanked by spotless guitar riffs and accentuates the grain of Santo’s bachata roots and distinct timbre in tandem with the instruments setting the ambience of the song. — PB

“Calma” remix – Pedro Capó & Farruko

“Calma” by Pedro Capó and its remix with Farruko is the real representation of summer. The lyrics are an invitation to enjoy life and to relax at the beach drinking a beer. After the original version was released in late 2018, capturing fans with its easy flow, Farruko jumped on the track, creating a reggae-infused mix that melds Capo’s pop sensibilities with Farruko’s urban roots. — SUZETTE FERNANDEZ

“Con Altura” – Rosalia, J Balvin & El Guincho

In late March, Spanish singer Rosalia surprised fans with “Con Altura,” a single not from her album, in collaboration with J Balvin and El Guincho. The song is an infectious tribute to old-school reggaeton, fused with modern flamenco and Middle Eastern sounds. Adding her own flavor and dance moves, Rosalia demonstrates her admiration and respect for the genre, specifically reggaeton playero. “Con Altura” has continued to rise, peaking at No. 12 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated June 29 and peaking at No. 15 on the July 20-dated Latin Airplay list. — JR

“Con Calma” – Daddy Yankee feat. Snow

Daddy Yankee kicked off 2019 with the release of "Con Calma" featuring Snow, an energetic, bilingual remake of Snow’s 1992 hit "Informer," which in no time became a viral sensation worldwide. The song’s global appeal not only encouraged people from all over the world to start dance challenges, but also topped the Hot Latin Songs chart, starting on May 4, 2019. Currently in its 14th week at No. 1 (chart dated Aug. 3), this summer jam also peaked at No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart dated March 16, 2019, where it crowned the chart for eight nonconsecutive weeks. — JR

“Baila, Baila, Baila” – Ozuna

Ozuna’s “Baila, Baila, Baila” is the first single from the Puerto Rican urban singer’s upcoming album, Nibiru. The track fuses reggaeton with dance, and its lyrics — about seeing a girl dance all night — are simple but catchy. Released first in its original solo version, it went all the way to No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart following the April 25 release of the song’s remix (during the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards), which includes Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Farruko and Anuel AA. — SF

“Rebota” – Guaynaa

“Rebota” went viral, thanks in part to Guaynaa’s cheerful personality, reflected through the entire song and music video and no doubt influenced by René Perez and Tego Calderon's music styles. The track has captivated the Latinx generation on social media and streaming platforms, giving Guaynaa an opportunity to grow as an artist. On Billboard charts, “Rebota” has peaked at No. 34 on the Hot Latin Songs chart so far. — SF

“Otro Trago” – Sech feat. Darell
Panamanian artist Sech took the music world by storm when he released “Otro Trago,” part of his debut studio album, Sueños. The song, which features Darell’s raspy urban voice, narrates the story of a girl drinking and dancing her sorrows away at the club — totally relatable to those going through heartbreak this summer. With its infectious R&B-meets-reggaeton beat, the song quickly became a hit, peaking at No. 5 on the Hot Latin Songs June 29-dated chart. On the overall Billboard Hot 100 (dated Aug. 3), “Otro Trago” notches its seventh week at its No. 79 high after it pushed 84-79. — JR

“Loco Contigo” – J Balvin, DJ Snake & Tyga

Following “Taki Taki,” DJ Snake teamed up with J Balvin and Tyga for “Loco Contigo” (Crazy With You), one of those songs that you can listen to over and over. The fusion of EDM with Latin urban sounds will turn up any summer party.  “Loco Contigo” is currently at No.16 on Billlboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart (dated Aug. 3) — SF

“Secreto” – Anuel & Karol G

Released in January, Anuel AA and Karol G’s “Secreto” officially confirmed their relationship, quickly becoming a fan favorite. “Soltera (Remix)” – Lunay, Daddy Yankee & Bad Bunny

Rising urban act Lunay dropped the 2019 anthem for single ladies with “Soltera.” In the midst of the hype created by the song’s success, he then revealed its remix with two of the industry’s big dogs: Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny. The remix’s music video shows the three Puerto Rican artists crashing a bachelorette party, dancing on top of a giant cake, cozying up to a group of beautiful women and popping bottles of champagne all summer long. “Soltera (Remix)”  reached No. 1 on the July 13-dated Hot Latin Songs chart, leading for two consecutive weeks, and currently sits at No. 74 on the Hot 100 (chart dated Aug. 3). — JR

“Que Bomba” – Play-N-Skillz & Luis Coronel
