Rosie Rivera Remembers Late Sister Jenni, Best Moments With the Family Ahead Of HipHopMagz Latin Music Week

Rivera and her family will gather for a special panel during Billboard’s Latin Music Week on April 24.

For the first time in history, the members of the Rivera music dynasty will gather for the “All In The (Rivera) Family” panel at Billboard’s Latin Music Week. Don Pedro Rivera, Pedro Jr, Juan, Gustavo, Lupillo, Rosie, Chiquis and Jacqie Rivera will take the center stage on April 24 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas to discuss Jenni Rivera's legacy, the family’s first ever collective tour, their respective musical careers and the state of regional Mexican music.

To learn more about what to expect from the first-ever family reunion, in public, Billboard spoke to Rosie Rivera, who details how they have been working out the differences, as well as her best memories of late sister Jenni Rivera.

Your family has gone through numerous difficult situations. How do they feel knowing that they will all be together in the same room?

We are super happy [and] nervous because it is the first time we [will be] together in public. I am super excited because I have waited years for this, because my family is the most important thing for me. For many years, they [did] not treat each other [well], there were problems in the family. Thank God they are working on it. Even though some of them still do not talk to each other, at least they can be together in the same room.

Who had the idea of getting together?

My father. As he feels that he is already getting old, he asked us. We said yes [because of] the love and respect we have for him.

How would your sister, Jenni Rivera, feel if she were part of this reunion?

Jenni was a family woman. My father raised us to be an united family. I remember an interview in which she was asked the most important thing in her life, and she said: "It's not the Grammys, it's not the awards, it's not the records, it's who is there in my moments — and it's my family." I know she would be super happy that we have grown, matured and that we are fixing the problems.

Do you have any good memories of all you together?

In 2007, my whole family (including the pets) all stayed together for one week in a cabin and it was the craziest moment ever. I will never forget. We laughed, we cried, we played, and although Mom and Daddy were already separated, they joined us.
