Fame didn't come straightforward for Lady Gaga.
By the time she started engaged on what would grow to be her breakout single, "Just Dance," the singer-songwriter born Stefani Germanotta had already been dropped by Def Jam Recordings in 2006 after simply three months on the label.
Interscope took an opportunity on her subsequent, and in 2007, Gaga wrote "Just Dance," a shimmering synth-pop monitor a few woozy evening within the membership, with chart-topping singer Akon and the tune's producer CrimsonOne, then recognized stateside for his work on Kat DeLuna's "Whine Up."

Gaga was 22 when "Just Dance" debuted on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart in May 2008 and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100 that August. Five months later, it started a three-week keep at No. 1 on the Hot 100 dated Jan. 17, 2009.
