Relive Some of the Best Throwback Performances at the Latin American Music Awards

The 2019 Latin American Music Awards, taking place Oct. 17 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood Telemundo, are officially a week away.

This year’s nominations were announced on Sept. 4, with Ozuna leading the pack with nine nominations. He’s followed by Bad Bunny (8), Romeo Santos (8) and Anuel AA (7). A total of 40 actors, artists, on-air talent, radio personalities and models will present awards during night, including Regional Mexican acts Chiquis, T3R Elemento; urban artists De La Ghetto, Lunay, Guaynaa, Jhay Cortez; and some of Telemundo’s very own talent. CNCO, Daddy Yankee, Jason Derulo and Christian Nodal, among other artists, will perform.

As the countdown begins for the coveted awards show that pays tribute to the top Latin artists in the market today, with fans voting for the ultimate winners, Billboard compiled some memorable throwback performances over the years.

At the first-ever Latin American Music Awards in 2015, artists Aymee Nuviola, India, Yuri and Maluma joined forces for a wonderful tribute to late Salsa icon Celia Cruz.

2016: Miguel Bose “Amante Bandido” & CNCO – “Qusiera”

In 2016, Miguel Bosé performed his 1980 hit “Amante Bandido.” His performance was followed by CNCO, who back then was just kicking off their career.

In 2016, three powerhouses, Sheila Durcal, Aida Cuevas and Lila Downs, shared the stage for a heartfelt tribute to Juan Gabriel, who passed away that same year.

2017: Becky G & Bad Bunny – “Mayores”

Performing her hit “Mayores,” Becky G jumped onstage with Bad Bunny for a performance that had the people on their feet during the 2017 Latin AMAs.

2017: Pitbull & Fifth Harmony – “Por Favor”

At the third annual Latin AMAs, Pitbull and Fifth Harmony performed their sultry single “Por Favor.” (The performance came after Camila Cabello left the group.)
