With the 2019 CMA Awards focusing on female empowerment, one of the show's three superstar co-hosts got to perform an especially fitting hit song.
Following an introduction from fellow host/Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood, the legend Reba McEntire took the stage to the opening notes of "Fancy," her hit 1991 song about a rags-to-riches heroine. (It was first written and released by Bobbie Gentry in 1969 alongside the era's women's liberation movement).
Clearly no stranger to the award show spotlight, Reba strode confidently around the stage at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, delivering the up-tempo ballad with three wardrobe changes and her typical flair. Needless to say, the crowd was feeling it.
This wasn't even Reba's first performance of the evening; she got to warm up right away, singing alongside her co-hosts Underwood and Dolly Parton during a star-studded opening medley.
