If you're not familiar with JAGMAC yet, prepare for that to change. The co-ed group, comprised six siblings, were named Radio Disney's Next Big Thing (“NBT”). The Baltimore-raised group is in good company: Previous NBT artists have included Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Kelsea Ballerini and Alessia Cara.
The group gets its name from the first initial its members: Jared, Angelique, Gabriel, Manjo, Alyssa and CJ.
“The best thing about working with your siblings is the fact that you get to do what you love with the people you love,” lead female vocalist Alyssa Patalinghug tells Billboard. “No one is left out or behind. We're all in it together as a team, motivating each other along this amazing journey.”
Working so closely with family comes with some setbacks too: “The worst part would probably be not having enough alone time,” Jared said. “There's just too many us!”
To celebrate their collaboration with Disney, as well as the release their high-energy new single, “Right Back With You,” the Patalinghug siblings shared songs that they felt best described them, as well as their all-time favorite Disney tracks.
Song that best describes me: The song that best describes me is “Don’t You Worry Child” by Swedish House Mafia. Not only do I love that song, but I love the message. I really feel like heaven has a plan for me, and for our group, JAGMAC, and we can't wait to see everything that God has in store for us.
Favorite Disney song: “I'll Make a Man Out You” from Mulan. I listen to that song almost every time I'm at the gym — it pumps me up!
Song that best describes me: If I had to choose, it'd have to be “Hard Times” by Paramore. I love Hayley Williams so much, and I think that song is so fun to dance around to. If you know me, I'm pretty energetic!
Favorite Disney song: Every Disney song is my favorite! But if I had to choose, it'd be “Reflection” in Mulan. Actually, when I was a little girl, I had a singing competition and sang that song.
Song that best describes me: “Make Me Wanna” by Thomas Rhett would have to be one the songs that I feel describes me pretty well. It's a feel-good type song, and I'm a feel-good type person!
Favorite Disney song: One my all-time favorite Disney songs is “When You Wish Upon a Star.” When our football team, The Baltimore Ravens, won the Super Bowl back in 2013, they had a victory celebration and blasted this song in the stadium, and I just remember going crazy! After getting the call that we were chosen to be Radio Disney's NBT, we listened to this song, just as reminder that any dream is possible with hard work and dedication.
Song that best describes me: “Chained to the Rhythm” by Katy Perry. I think it describes me very well because I'm obsessed with music. It takes me to a place that I can't even describe. I guess you can say that I am chained to the rhythm.
Favorite Disney song: “You've Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story. It's one my favorite Disney songs because it takes me back to when I was just a kid. I remember I used to have a Buzz Lightyear toy, and my close cousin Chad had a Woody toy, and we would just play with them together all the time. Every time that song plays, it reminds me that time.
Song that best describes me: That's a tough question. That's like asking a chef what his favorite ingredient is or asking a painter what his favorite color is! I can honestly say I don't have a favorite song or favorite artist, but if I had to list my early musical influences, it would have to be Christina Aguilera and Amy Winehouse because the passion in their voices.
Favorite Disney song: Growing up, my favorite Disney song was “A Whole New World.” I have a vivid memory me as a little girl swimming in the bathtub singing that song.
Song that best describes me: Michael Jackson is one my greatest music idols all time. I'd have to say his song “Off The Wall” describes me best because it's all about having fun and living life to the fullest. Plus dancing is what I love to do — you'll never find me on the wall!
Favorite Disney song: Growing up in the '90s, I was a massive Disney fan! I would watch all the classics on repeat and would sing along to all the songs. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be “A Whole New World” from Aladdin. When I was 12 years old, I sang it during a show and completely forgot the lyrics! So embarrassing.
