Spotify has partnered with the Fab Five from Netflix’s hit reboot Queer Eye to help listeners “turn up the volume on their own self-expression.”
Resident makeover experts Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown and Tan France have each created a playlist showcasing their own specific style and music tastes. This project is part Spotify's annual initiative to celebrate LGBTQ-identifying artists and their allies.
"Sade just speaks to my gay soul on a really intrinsic, solar plexus level," Van Ness says in the clip. "She really got me through a really difficult time in junior high when I was really, really bullied."
Van Ness' playlist also includes other essential pop tracks from RuPaul, Ariana Grande and Beyoncé while Porowski filled his with '80s classics and deeper alternative cuts from the likes The Cure, Blondie and Pet Shop Boys. Berk's list is complete with empowerment anthems from Demi Lovato, Missy Elliott and Britney Spears.
"You've just gotta find that song, that album, that piece music that helps you get through the good times and] the bad times," Berk says. "Even if you're not ready to live at your full volume, turn it up halfway and get there."
Additional artist playlist takeovers are available through Pride Month at Spotify.com/Pride.
Queer Eye returns for its second season Friday on Netflix.
