Colorado born producer Derek Vincent Smith
, better known as Pretty Lights
, just gave his rabid fan base the best Christmas present they could ask for. In an interview with the Denver Post, Smith announced that the album is scheduled for an early 2017 release, and will not just be a traditional music record, but will be accompanied by a film as well:
This new record will mark the first full length album for Smith since 2013’s Color Map of the Sun. While he has released just one single in the last few years, Smith has stayed at the top of the game with his live show—both as a DJ and with his live band. Smith says each episode of the film is connected with one of the live shows he performed on his Episodic Festival tour this past summer and fall:
A release date is yet to be announced, but Smith did suggest the possibility of an April 20th release. Pretty Lights’ announcement adds to what is already looking like an exciting start to 2017 for music. We will keep you updated on Pretty Lights’ new album as more information is released.
