Post Malone Just Tied His Own Record On the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart

The hitmaker’s sophomore LP matches the 77 weeks of his debut set’s stay in the region.
Post Malone adds a major achievement to his Billboard resume as his Beerbongs & Bentleys album logs a record-tying 77th week in the top 10 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The set matches the historic streak of his debut album, 2016’s Stoney, which claimed the all-time mark last year.
Beerbongs & Bentleys, released in March 2018, rebounds 11-10 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart dated Nov. 9. The album has spent all but two of its 79 weeks on the chart in the top 10, boosted by a pair of No. 1 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, “Rockstar,” featuring 21 Savage, which reigned for 14 weeks and “Psycho,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, a one-week champ. Another single, “Better Now,” peaked at No. 2.
Both Beerbongs & Bentleys and Stoney surpassed the long-time recordholder, Michael Jackson's Thriller, which recorded 76 weeks in the top 10 in 1983-84.
As Beerbongs equals its predecessor, here's a look at the current leaderboard for the albums with the most weeks in the top 10 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart:

Notably, the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart shifted its methodology in recent years, allowing for such longevity among recent albums. Beginning with the list dated Feb. 11, 2017, the list switched from a strictly sales-only ranking to one based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums and streaming equivalent albums.
As such, listeners' repeated streams of Beerbongs & Bentleys' songs have contributed to the album's ranking each week, whereas for Thriller and its contemporaries, its pre-streaming era release means that fans’ purchases of the album contributed to the chart for only that single week.
Though Beerbongs & Bentleys leapfrogs Thriller to match the top 10 record, the latter still holds the mark for most weeks at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with 37. beerbongs & bentleys has spent five weeks atop the list.
Can Post Malone continue his endurance streak with his third studio album, Hollywood’s Bleeding? The set, released in September, could catch its predecessors no sooner than March 2021, but initial signs trend in the right direction. In its first eight weeks on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Bleeding has clocked four weeks at No. 1 and has yet to drop below the runner-up rank.
