Police Report Provides Credible Reason That Led To Kodak Black New Year’s Eve Arrest

Pompano Beach, FL – Kodak Black found himself the behind bars of a Broward County, Florida jail cell over the New Year holiday weekend. The 24-year-old rapper was taken into custody for allegedly violating a cease-and-desist letter from the local Housing Authority that banned him from the Golden Acres Projects in Pompano Beach, his old stomping grounds. Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, told TMZ it was all a big misunderstanding and felt it was an unnecessary arrest.

But according to The Sun-Sentinel, police had a solid reason for showing up at the scene. Authorities explained a deputy was responding to the report of gunfire in the South Florida area when he recognized the famous rapper. The police report states the deputy was familiar with the cease-and-desist letter and arrested him. He was booked around 3 a.m. local time on January 1 and released on $25 bond just hours later.

Shortly after Kodak Black’s arrest and release, he headed to Instagram Live where he vowed to avoid that area in the future.

“You know what, stay out the hood,” he said. “Everything that I was trying to do, I always keep the hood in my mix. I always steady slide back to the hood. I don’t need to be going through there. I don’t need to be through there. But how can you tell a n-gga who really from the streets, who really doing his shit, really did my shit out there.

“N-ggas know what the fuck going on with me. They can never bash me, never say, ‘Oh I can’t come back to the hood.’ Never gonna say, ‘Oh yeah he ain’t been back to the hood in a long time’… All that other shit, that over with.”

The Housing Authority letter was originally issued in September 2021 after Kodak Black delivered 100 air conditioning units to Golden Acres Projects residents that summer much to the dismay of the Housing Authority.
