Phew, New Billie Eilish Music Is On the Way

Finneas stopped by Apple Music’s Beats 1 on Tuesday (Oct. 22) to promote his new EP, Blood Harmony, and let slip during the interview that he’s already working on new music with sister Billie Eilish

“We’re deep into the creative process on new material, for sure,” he told host Zane Lowe before turning the focus back to hitting the road in support of Eilish’s hit debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? “But I think the main point of this was that this is an album that we really love to play live and it’s continued to grow and that’s been a great blessing, and we’re just excited to play a year on this album that really services this record.”

As it turns out, being on the road and performing live has helped inspire the sibling duo in creating the next chapter of Eilish’s work.

“We just played this arena where Billie is like…Had 13,000 kids cry,” he said. “And then we get off stage and it’s like, ‘All right, let’s comp this vocal.’ It’s really crazy — she’s in a really good place.”

When it comes to the rest of the siblings’ latest collaborations, the songwriter/producer revealed he and Eilish work best when they’re creating in less conventional spaces than a typical recording studio.

“I don’t really have any interest in recording at places that are institutionalized for recording,” he said. “Definitely for me and my sister, wherever we are the most comfortable is where the best music’s going to be made. So even this past week, we were working on something new and we were together on tour. And so the song was written in a couple of dressing rooms at venues and a couple of hotel rooms upstairs. Then it was recorded sitting in one of our bunks on the tour bus with all the air conditioning off and the lights off, just next to each other in the bunk, because it was cozy and it was quiet.”
