Noname has scrapped her scheduled shows for the next six weeks citing ongoing health concerns.
“Due to continued health issues, I’m canceling my shows from June to July,” Noname tweeted. “I was really looking forward to seeing your beautiful faces, but I promise I’ll be back soon to make it up to you guys!”
The Chicago-based artist added, “Tried to push through it things have gotten pretty severe. With lots of rest, medicine and veggies I should be right back to normal! Hopefully in a few weeks time I’ll be back to my rapping and petty self lol.”
As a result of illness, the Chicago-based artist was unable to play Sunday night’s show at the Hollywood Bowl with Chromeo, Toro y Moi, and Ian Isiah, and she’ll miss a run of festival dates including 80/35 fest. “We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she performs in Des Moines in the near future! We'll have an update on our Saturday lineup and schedule soon,” reads a statement from 80/35 organizers.
Noname (born Fatimah Warner) has two official releases behind her, 2016’s Telefone and 2018’s Room 25. She dropped a new track "Song 31" in January, and another, "Song 32," in April.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Noname reflected on her freedom as an independent artist. Independence “allows me to feel free, and that’s what I want my art to reflect and to represent – freedom,” she said. “Specifically, as a black artist, I mean freedom in the larger sense than just being able to talk about whatever I want to on my songs. I want freedom away from a structure, a musical structure, a system that has been put in place that historically has not really honored black artists the way they should be.”
