NLE Choppa made a name for himself as a rapper, but he’s preparing to leave it all behind in favor of herbalism off the back of a life-changing discovery of meditation in 2020.
The popular 18-year-old Memphis artist took to Twitter on Tuesday (July 6) to reveal he wants to buy out his recording contract with Warner Records in order to quit music and focus on being a herbalist.
“Finna buy out my contract and become full time herbalist,” he wrote. “Forget the music stuff about to help my people.”
Warner Records signed NLE Choppa in July 2019 when he was just 16 years old, going on to release his debut album Top Shotta in August 2020 and From Dark to Light mixtape in November 2020.
No stranger to pharmacognosy, NLE Choppa owns his own health and wellness company fittingly named NLE Health & Wellness. On June 8, he explained how he’s as much a herbalist as he is a rapper and that he was the only artist to balance both job titles.
“I’m really a rapper and a herbalist,” he said. “Only rapper to ever sale healing herbs to help they people and at the same time balance putting music out. That’s huge in my eyes and I feel it can be world changing.”
Just two days later, NLE Choppa claimed he helped cure a girl’s cancer by including aromatic flowering plants in her diet.
“Wow man just was informed I helped cure someone from cancer,” he said. “This Major To Me. ThankGod. It’s funny cause some people think I’m lying, which is understandable but that’s nowhere near the case. Curing disease is simple, it takes a meatless, dairy free, sugar free diet. Implant herbs, Sea mosses, black seed, neem, and other herbs. My mugwort was included in her diet.”
He added, “I don’t just sell this items to sell them. I know the impact and what they can do for the mind, body, and spirit. I’ve healed people of allergic reactions in my own house, helped Unc with diabetes, and now cancer. Beyond blessed we here to help and heal.”
