Nivea was a star in the early 2000s with hits such as “Don’t Mess with My Man” and “Laundromat.” Despite the success on the Billboard charts, though, Nivea’s love life was just as popular as her music career. During a recent visit to Kandi Burress’ YouTube show On That Note, the R&B singer revealed some interesting details on her relationship with Lil Wayne

According to Nivea, Weezy took his shot after seeing her video for the 2002 hit “Don’t Mess With My Man.” Weezy hit up her label and said he wanted to collaborate with the singer. When they met, the New Orleans legend made it known he had a thing for her. One thing led to another, and they were in love to the point that Wayne convinced Nivea to leave the industry and live with him in NOLA. However, Wayne ended up moving Toya Johnson into his home and marrying her.

Nivea got back with Lil Wayne and became pregnant while Lauren London was pregnant with his son Kam in 2009. The two became close friends and helped each other out through their pregnancies.

“She really helped me through my pregnancy,” Nivea said. “We really leaned on each other, and we both had a history with [Wayne] in our younger years, so it was connecting in many different ways.”

The-Dream predicted some of the drama Nivea went through with Wayne on the three-part song series “Nikki,” “Nikki Part 2” and “Abyss.” “Nikki” was inspired by Nivea, with the Nikki character evolving over the entire trilogy. Nivea got married to The-Dream a year after breaking off her engagement with Lil Wayne in 2003.

Nivea shared a post of the interview on her Instagram where Toya Johnson and London praised her for honesty during the candid conversation in the comment section.

“Love you,” London wrote in the comment section. “You are pure magic and strength.”

Toya Johnson said, “Great Interview. So proud of you.”

While Nivea spoke on her relationship with Lil Wayne, he was busy clearing up the rumors around his alleged marriage to Denise Bidot. During Nicki Minaj’s surprise Instagram Live, Wayne said it was all a misunderstanding.

“The other day it was some tweets going on, and I was like, ‘Oh, what’s going on?’ and I texted you and I was like, ‘Oh, Congratulations. I can tell you’ve been in a good mood,’” Nicki said to Wayne. “And I said, ‘Congratulations,’ because I thought you had gotten married.”

Lil Wayne replied, “I’m so glad you asked me that. I did not get married. I said ‘The Carters,’ and girl, that’s my damn sons, that’s my sons’ little name of their little group.”
