Paris Saint-Germain will be without Neymar for next week’s Champions League round–16 second leg with Real Madrid at Parc des Princes, according to ESPN. Neymar suffered a fractured toe towards the end last Sunday’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Marseille, and he will undergo surgery in Brazil later this week.
Paris Saint-Germain has not revealed how long they expect their 26-year old star to be sidelined, although his father indicated to ESPN that the surgery will keep him out action for six to eight weeks.
PSG released the following statement regarding Neymar’s surgery, per ESPN.
In 30 games with PSG this season, Neymar has scored 28 goals and 16 assists, including the six goals and three assists he has had in seven Champions League games.
Real Madrid picked up a 3-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League round–16 first-leg earlier this month. The two teams will square f again on March 6th.
