Viacom's MTV International is looking to tap into the recent interest in royals following the wedding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, ordering reality series The Royal World. The six-episode hour-long show will follow nine "young royals and aristocrats," it said, promising "an original format that invites viewers inside the exclusive, unfiltered lives young royals and aristocrats from around the globe as their worlds collide in a British countryside mansion."
The show description adds: "The series will have inside access to the cast’s lavish family homes and elite circles and will explore the lives the pedigreed and privileged, including the ups and downs life as 20-somethings finding their way in the world. The cast, which will be announced at a later date, includes aristocrats with lineage rooted in the United Kingdom, Russia, Austria, Nigeria, Ireland and more – in addition to a 'royally connected” American'."
This will be this year’s fifth MTV International original commission out the U.K., and it is scheduled to debut later this year in nearly 180 countries outside the U.S.

Said Craig Orr, vp commissioning and development at MTV International: "Meghan falling for Prince Harry, marrying into the royal family, and her blossoming friendship with the Queen has captivated the nation. Our intrigue and obsession with all things regal has well and truly been reignited. The Royal World’s veritable melting pot global aristocrats will show what it really means to be young and royal."
Production firm Initial, part the Endemol Shine Group, will produce the show. The executive producers include Orr and Iestyn Barker for MTV International, and Andrew Jackman for Initial. The other MTV International original commissions this year are Beach Body SOS, The Charlotte Show, Million Dollar Baby and True Love or True Lies?.
