Miranda Lambert’s forthcoming seventh studio album Wildcard drops Friday, and the singer is opening up about the recording process in a short film Apple Music. Behind Miranda Lambert’s Wildcard will be available Nov. 4 exclusively on Apple Music and has Lambert detailing the making of her new album.
“[At] some point when you make a bunch of records you get to a place where you’re like, ‘What can I do that’s going to push me?’” Lambert says in a 34-second clip. “Country, it’s what I do, it’s who I am — but I love rock and roll. I had confidence in the process … I just felt like it was going to work.”
Behind Miranda Lambert’s Wildcard features interviews from the album’s producer Jay Joyce as well as co-writers Natalie Hemby, Ashley Monroe, Luke Dick and The Love Junkies (Liz Rose, Lori McKenna and Hillary Lindsey). Lambert also details how she recorded the album like it was her first and why she decided to take time off ahead of writing for the project.
