Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” Vaults Into Top 5 on iTunes Rap Songs Chart

Meek Mill released the intro track to his full-length debut, Dreams and Nightmares, on October 26, 2012. 1,928 days later, it has reached No. 5 on the iTunes Top Rap and Hip-Hop Songs chart after the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles walked out to the song as a showing solidarity for the currently-imprisoned Philly native.

The use on-demand streaming metrics (plays, views) is a far more accurate way to measure a song's success in 2018 than iTunes songs charts, but considering the Beat Bully-produced record was only played on national television for less than a minute, its rise less than 24 hours later is a huge win for the embattled rapper.

For those curious, at the time this story was published, “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)” was nowhere to be found in the top 200 on either Spotify or Apple Music.

An hour after the big game ended, the song sported 47,344,210 plays on Spotify, but, nearly 16 hours later, the on-demand service has so far not updated that count. We will update this story if and when Spotify wants to be great again.

Last November, Meek Mill received a sentence two to four years for violating the terms his probation stemming from multiple arrests earlier in the year.
