Martin Garrix & Khalid Release 7-Track 'Ocean' Remix Package: Listen

63

Who hasn't made a song with Khalid at this point? The American Teen singer has been killing the feature game since bursting onto the national scene in 2016, but fans had been waiting for that Martin Garrix collaboration since he teased it in spring. "Ocean" finally dropped in June, and it brought all the heavy emotions a pop ballad. Now, "Ocean" gets a crop new vibes with a seven-track remix package.

Garrix gets the party started with his own re-interpreation the tune alongside his fellow-Dutchman Cesqeaux. It's a heavier, grittier take with a bassy build and exotic hook. Next up is a cool acid house groove from Bart B More. It's funky and sexy with a little bit darkness. Definitely one for the club.

Things get even clubbier once Cazztek comes to the scene. He gives "Ocean" a hefty house beat and a nice dose soul, but the real exciting part is the strange hook. It's almost like subtle dubstep house. You've got to hear it to understand. If heaviness is what you crave, the future bass womps from Todd Helder's remix hit the mark. Silque brings four-on-the-floor for a cool house groove, DubVision turns on the bright festival lights, and Goja closes the package with a speedy, mechanical growl.

It's quite the varied package and definitely brings new dimensions to the song that peaked at No. 78 on the Hot 100. All seven remixes are out now on Garrix's label STMPD RCRDS.
