Hollywood, CA –
The billion-dollar Fast & Furious franchise has always made casting room for music superstars and the upcoming Justin Lin-directed F9 isn’t one to screw with tradition.

On Wednesday (April 14), Universal Studios put the green light on the second F9 official trailer that seemingly managed to cram in an infinite amount of explosions in just over three minutes.

Hip Hop stars and franchise stalwarts Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Tyrese Gibson and Shad “Bow Wow” Moss (returning from 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) are all featured in the new trailer.

A high-powered, industrialized remix of Kanye West’s “Selah” also anchors the Original Film/One Race Films/Perfect Storm production’s movie teaser.

And although her screen-time appearance is still under wraps (for now), Cardi B’s character “Leysa” may prove pivotal to the story. Franchise lead Vin Diesel’s character Dom Torreto reportedly has a connection to the elusive figure, while his kid has a connection to the “Up” rapper.

“My daughter wanted a piece of casting to happen, so Cardi B is in it,” Vin Diesel told Jimmy Kimmel in a March 2020 interview. “Well, you have to work through the writers and you have to create a role that will work through mythology. Strange enough, 20 years ago, you wouldn’t have thought this, but now we do have Oscar winners asking [for roles in the Fast franchise].”

Reggaeton boss Ozuna will also have a cameo and WWE legend John Cena stars as “Jakob,” the primary antagonist and Dom’s forsaken brother.

Rounding out the F9 cast are Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Kurt Russell and Academy Award-winning actresses Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the film to shuffle release dates from May 22, 2020 to April 2, 2021, to its newly cemented unveiling of June 25, 2021.
