Grab the tissues! Louis Tomlinson dropped the video for his new single “Two of Us” on Wednesday (April 24), and it’s a tearjerker.
In the clip, Tomlinson meets 83-year-old Richard Green, whose wife passed away from Alzheimer’s around the same time that the former One Directioner lost his mother, Johannah Deakin, to cancer. As the two bond, the older man reveals he has put together a bucket list, and Tomlinson agrees to help him check off all the items on the list.
“I will be the best of me/ Always keep you next to me/ I'll be living one life for the two of us,” the pop star sings as he and Green fly a helicopter, drive a race car and ride a roller coaster together.
The heartwarming video culminates in crossing off one final item on the amateur singer’s bucket list: performing in front of an arena full of fans at one of Tomlinson’s shows. The crowd goes wild when Green delivers a stirring performance of an operatic tune like a pro as the pop star cheers his new friend on from the sidelines.
“Two of Us” is the lead single from Tomlinson’s upcoming debut solo album and was released just one week before his sister Félicité’s untimely death at age 18 from cardiac arrest. Watch the video for “Two of Us” below.
